Customer Service Specialist

  1. Greeting and assisting clients of services, answering the telephone, and service inquiries following customer service policies, procedures and timeframes. Communicate in a courteous and professional manner.
  2. Scheduling appointments for staff, group activities, coordinating with colleagues, to assist in service provision.
  3. Providing administrative support to department staff, including minute taking of department meetings.  Coordinating the distribution of correspondence to department staff and partnership agencies.
  4. Designs and updates forms, brochures, advertising material and stationery at the request of department staff.
  5. Maintains office supplies for Goodwill Career Centre following established purchasing procedures. 
  6. Ensures that office equipment at all locations functions properly.  Coordinates servicing and maintenance programs for all office equipment, following established procedures.  Advises the Manager of janitorial needs.
  7. Distributes incoming mail. Stamps and mails outgoing items. 
  8. Opens and closes office daily, following established procedures.
  9. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.
  10. Provides case data entry support for the collection and maintenance of client information, including provision of scheduled activity reports or as requested by Manager.
  11. File development and management. Provides support in the collection of and management of file content.
  12. Work collaboratively with funders, other community agencies and with the Goodwill Career Centre Team.
  13. Responsible for promotion of a safe workplace and understanding of the obligations set forth in the Occupational Health and Safety Act.


  1. Post secondary degree/diploma in Office Administrative, CEIS training is definite asset.
  2. Sound knowledge of career decision making tools, job search strategies, resume creation, networking, the labour market and future employment trends
  3. Ability to work effectively with a diverse socio-cultural client population with strong customer service skills
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  5. Effective computer skills
  6. Flexibility to adapt to change, ability to set and meet deadlines
