Tom Greene
"Anyone who doesn't feel they have the confidence to succeed, give TIOW a try, " says Tom Greene. As a participant of the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers Program (TIOW), Tom has been able to reenter the workforce after being laid off for 14 months from the manufacturing industry.

This joint federal/provincial initiative delivered at the Goodwill Career Centre in Chatham has given Tom,
at the age of 58, the job search tools, computer skills and certification training needed to be successful in securing a job in a field he is very interested in learning more about.

TIOW was able to equip Tom with a resumé that opens doors, information on 'How to Find the Hidden Job
Market' and the techniques and confidence to succeed in an interview. Tom completed the program after eight weeks, overcoming the barriers associated with ageism and developing the self-esteem in which to market his newly acquired skills and abilities to the best possible outcome.

Tom is now a proud team member of solar panel manufacturing at Northwind Solutions, a cutting-edge
company committed to responsible, renewable energy sources. As a crane operator and driver, Tom is part of a lift crew working on the ground floor of this newly established Chatham-Kent company.

"I have come out of my shell and gained the self-confidence to persevere; going after jobs I never thought I was qualified for," says Tom.
